Scripture:
“Every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
— John 15:2 (NIV)
Doctrinal Insight:
Pruning is a key part of sanctification — the process of becoming more like Christ.
God lovingly removes what is unnecessary, harmful, or holding you back — not to punish you, but to prepare you.
What feels like loss may actually be divine preparation.
He cuts not to destroy, but to multiply fruit.
Even fruitful branches aren’t exempt — in fact, they’re the ones God prunes most.
Filipino Cultural Connection:
Sa maraming probinsya sa Pilipinas, pagtatabas ng halaman ay normal na gawain.
Kapag nagtanim tayo ng mga tanim tulad ng kalamansi o gumamela, pinopruning natin ang mga sanga para mas lumago.
Hindi ito para sirain ang halaman — kundi para mas dumami ang bulaklak o bunga.
Ganoon din ang ginagawa ng Diyos:
Ang mga “tanggal” sa buhay natin ay may layunin.
Hindi aksidente ang sakit — may purpose ito.
Devotional Thought:
What is God cutting away in your life right now?
A toxic habit? A draining relationship? A misplaced identity?
Sometimes, we hold on to things that feel “good” but aren’t God’s best.
Let the Gardener do His work. He never prunes without purpose.
Pain may come with pruning, but so does growth.
Reflect:
- Anong tinanggal ng Diyos sa buhay ko kamakailan — ugali, relasyon, gawi, o goal?
- Tinatanggap ko ba ang pruning — o lumalaban ako sa proseso?
Prayer:
Lord, even when it hurts, I choose to trust You.
Prune me. Cut away anything that hinders my growth.
Make me more fruitful — not for my glory, but for Yours.
